Newell’s 42 Grams chronicles chef Jake Bickelhaupt’s evolution from running an illegal restaurant out of his home to becoming a culinary celebrity in less than a year, and the toll it takes on his personal life.  Boasting laurels from festivals including Newport Beach Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, Bend Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and more, 42 Grams combines the lush visuals of modern culinary creations with the very personal story of Jake, his wife Alexa, and the sacrifices they make - both professionally and personally - to create a dining experience unlike any other. Filmed over the course of three years, Newell presents a documentary that is at once a celebration of the pursuit of the American Dream, the ambition to better oneself and one’s circumstances, and a poignant rumination on the price often paid to do so.
