Cave Creek's Balloon Festival invites you to enjoy great live bands, hot air balloons, and a fireworks show on Memorial Day weekend. The balloons start to inflate and glow around 7:30 p.m. Adults and children alike will love the live music on the Sanderson Ford’s main stage. Adults can enjoy great beverages, cocktails and wine, as well as craft beer. New this year: Want to surf the new food truck menus without having to walk to each truck? Later, the powerhouse Shari Rowe Band will headline the event from 6:45-8 p.m. and don’t miss a beat as we flow right into more live music with the Josh Roy Band

Founded 27 years ago in Arizona, Flavors of Phoenix is a delectable annual event that features the combined culinary talents of 30 of the Valley's best chefs coming together to cook fine foods while also raising funds for the American Liver Foundation. Now hosted in 20-plus cities nationwide, the 2018 Flavors of Phoenix will be held at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. The event kicks off with a cocktail reception and silent auction, before transitioning to a multi-course dinner.  Every ticket ($500 per person) will go directly to help fund the research, education, and advocacy efforts of the American Liver Foundation.

Known for its steadfast commitment to serving food and beverage sourced exclusively from the United States, Proof, an American Canteen, is capitalizing on a “libation loophole” to offer limited-edition, tiki-style Thirsty Thursday specials.

Enjoy the ambiance of the evening by donning a complimentary lei and taking a trip to the islands. The tiki-style drinks are available every Thursday night in Proof. Drinks include the Flaming Zombie Bite, with over-proof rum, gin, pineapple, orgeat, orange and raspberry. The Bitter Burro combines dark rum, amaro, ginger liquor, bitter, ginger beer and lemon. Or try the Lava Flow, combining rum, pineapple juice, coconut rum ice cream and strawberry. These specialty drinks range from $12 to $16.

An all-women judges panel includes Christina Barrueta of WriteOnrubee.com, Libby Lingua of UnderTow and Barter & Shake, and acclaimed chef Samantha Sanz of the Four Seasons Scottsdale. 

“This competition, like estate-grown Azuñia organic tequila, is for women who believe in quality and balance in life,” said Kailee Asher, Sales Manager, and Mixologist for Azuñia Tequila. “Many in the food and beverage industry work long hours day and night. Azuñia, in conjunction with women-owned Tuck Shop and the Phoenix Bartenders' Guild, wants to celebrate the efforts of women in the highly competitive and strenuous industry of mixology. Additionally, we want to encourage industry women to find balance in their lives.” Asher concluded.

Las Palmas Cantina, the newest concept from restaurateur Julian Wright (Pedal Haus Brewery, Canteen Modern Tequila), brings the food, drink and relaxed coastal vibe of the Mexican Riviera to Chandler’s burgeoning downtown culinary scene. While the Las Palmas team plans to soft open beforehand, they will be throwing a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, May 19 from 5-10 p.m. with 50 percent of the proceeds going to a Chandler charity called ICAN, a community organization providing family-centered youth-services to the East Valley.  Attendees will also receive a $10 gift certificate good towards their next visit as well as a chance to win a $200 gift certificate.
 
Chef Luis Millan leads the kitchen at Las Palmas and has created a menu of lighter dishes, shared plates and street-style bites. Specialty tropical cocktails and craft-brewed Mexican-style beers created just for Las Palmas Cantina round out the experience.
