Lindo Michoacan - Henderson, Las Vegas
Now that we drive to Las Vegas instead of flying, it’s become our tradition to stop for lunch at the Lindo Michoacan in Henderson to begin our drive back to Phoenix. My husband always gets the mole con pollo, while my regular order is Camarones Sarandeados Estil Tia Esther.

LAS VEGAS (September 2023) – Ferraro’s Ristorante celebrates inaugural race week in Las Vegas this November with two special menus, including a prix fixe menu dubbed “The Ferraro’s Experience” and a limited a la carte dinner menu. The menus will be available from Monday, Nov. 13, to Saturday, Nov. 18 during dinner hours.
“The Ferraro’s Experience,” one of the most elegant menus Ferraro’s has ever offered, comprises four courses for $395 per person. Everyone at the table must participate, and an optional wine pairing is available for $75 per person.
“As Las Vegas welcomes the globe’s most prestigious race event this fall, we sought to prepare an extraordinary, limited-time menu reflecting the city’s excitement,” said Mimmo Ferraro, executive chef, Ferraro’s. “Guests can select from either the prix-fixe menu featuring four courses of exceptional dishes, or order from our specially curated a la carte menu during race week.”

Ferraro’s also will be offering a special limited a la carte dinner menu during race week. This menu features some of the same individual dishes as “The Ferraro’s Experience, and many of the same dishes as are offered on the standard dinner menu at Ferraro’s. While reservations for the limited dinner menu are recommended, they are not required.

LAS VEGAS (PRESS RELEASE) – On Sept. 9, the award-winning Carnevino Italian Steakhouse will host a dinner battle between two storied Mediterranean cuisines: Spanish and Italian. Representing Spain, Anthony Sasso from New York City’s Michelin-starred Casa Mono and La Sirena Ristorante will battle Carnevino’s very own Arnold Corpuz, representing Italy, for a seven-course menu and wine pairing.
This dinner represents the newest installment of the guest chef dinner series at Carnevino Italian Steakhouse at The Palazzo. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Sasso and Corpuz created a menu highlighting classic dishes from each country, pitting them together in a single course for guests to enjoy. The menu includes twists on traditional Spanish and Italian dishes such as crudo, escabeche and canellones. The dessert course will be prepared by Pastry Chef Ashley Pietrafeso.
Sasso’s inspiration comes from his deeply rooted Spanish heritage that shaped his upbringing and career. After returning from multiple trips to his family’s small village in Catalunya, Spain, Sasso became an ambassador of classic Spanish cuisine and local Catalan specialties, incorporating them into his work as executive chef at two Michelin-starred New York City restaurants. In 2008, Sasso became one of the youngest chefs to be recognized by the Michelin Guide, obtaining his first of eight consecutive Michelin stars for Casa Mono.
The multi-course menu for this special evening will feature:
First course:
Camarón Crudo - Raw gamba, heirlooms, olive oil spuma, and rice chicharrón

Ricciola Crudo - Preserved kumquat, peppers and squid ink
Second course:
Razor Clams “Casa Mono-style” - Garlic, parsley, lemon and Casa Pareja
vs.
Razor Clams “Carnevino-style” - 'Nduja, corn, herbs and citrus
Third course:
Escabeche - Spanish mackerel, boquerones, eggplant and pepinos
vs.
Pesce Scapece - Squash, grilled eggplant, basil and orange
Fourth course:
Albondigas - Pork meatballs, squid ink tomato sauce and clams

Polpette - Veal meatballs, fresh herbs and pomodoro
Fifth course:
Canelones Rellenos - Morcillo, sweet corn béchamel and blood sausage Bolognese

Sixth course:
Pequeña Costilla - Olive oil-poached pork belly, jamón jus, and bravas hash

Upcoming guest chefs will include Nancy Silverton and Shirley Chung. Silverton serves, along with Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, as co-owner of Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles, Newport Beach, California and Singapore; Mozza2Go and Chi Spacca in Los Angeles; and founder of the La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. Chung is a former "Top Chef" contestant.

Tacos El Gordo
Our first visit to Tacos El Gordo wasn't planned. We had spent an afternoon at Frankie's Tiki Room with reservations for Bazaar Meat later that night, but were convinced by bartender Melo and not one, but three patrons, to visit nearby Tacos El Gordo instead. And we were glad we did. While that one has since closed, the Charleston Plaza location is still open. On our last trip we brought 4 friends visiting from the Boston area, who all agreed it was one of the highlights of their Vegas meals. Don't be intimidated by the line as it moves quickly, and be sure to order at least one al pastor taco.
Good news as of December 11, 2015. A Tacos El Gordo location returns to the Vegas strip at 3049 Las Vegas Blvd.
Hakkasan at the MGM Grand

On our first trip to London, we had dinner at the original Michelin-starred Hakkasan, so we have fond memories. When we stay at the MGM Grand, I make it a point to stop in to the Vegas Hakkasan for cocktails. I may sit and chat with Tim, Adrian, or Brittany (who introduced me to Baijiu on my last visit). Hakkasan is also a nightclub, so we eschew the crowds and visit early for a leisurely, relaxing round or two of cocktails. I've yet to eat dinner there, but both the Hakka fried dim sum platter (roasted duck and pumpkin, XO scallop puff, and crispy prawn dumpling) and salt and pepper squid are perfect appetizers to enjoy while you sip.

Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare at Wynn is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever seen. We reserved a table in a cabana on the lagoon.
Fantastic seafood, including langoustines flown in from Italy, Ligurian octopus, and orata bought whole by the pound and served with acqua pazza.
We had a fantastic dinner at Society Cafe (Wynn) at the hands of Chef Jeremy Pacheco, formerly of Lon's at the Hermosa - Cheese and charcuterie, an appetizer sampler with confit chicken lollipops, crab fritters, fried mac and cheese, salt-seared tuna on a hot salt block with yuzu-soy and rice crackers, Japanese Kobe beef, house-cured bacon on a sizzling plate with maple-sherry syrup, and peanut butter and jelly donuts
For our final night, we overindulged at the delicious CraftSteak at the MGM Grand.
And no trip to Vegas is complete without a stop at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. I couldn't say no to the Nutella, banana, and hazelnut crepe special.
Voodoo Steak at the Rio
We first met Chef Honorio Mecinas when he teamed up with his brother Chef Mel Mecinas, Executive Chef at the Four Seasons in Scottsdale, for a special event. On our next trip to Las Vegas, reservations at Voodoo Steak, where he is Chef de Cuisine, were a must. Since that very first visit, we've returned again and again. We've taken close friends, treated my parents, and hosted a fantastic wedding dinner for my stepdaughter and son-in-law, and had great service, and wine pairings from Sam. On our most recent visit last week, we were a group of 8, including my best friends from Massachusetts, and everyone raved. Voodoo Steak and Chef Honorio never disappoint.

Fiamma at MGM Grand Resort
The first time we stayed at the MGM, we stopped in to Fiamma for a drink and met engaging Kerry, a bartender and fellow food-lover. As a result, this is a must-visit every time we stay at the MGM, not only for the food, but to stop in for cocktails and say hello to Kerry at the bar. On our most recent trip, 8 of us, including our closest friends from the Boston area, had a wonderful dinner. And were pretty happy that we timed it with truffle season!
Frankie's Tiki Room
Who doesn't love a tiki bar? Cozy, dark, decorated with bamboo, rattan, thatch and tiki masks, Frankie's was the perfect spot to spend a Las Vegas Sunday afternoon. Be sure to ask Melo at the bar for his recommendations!
