Cocktails at Bar Barrueta - Blood and Sand
Blood and Sand may be one of the most well-known Scotch cocktails, but its origin is not. It first made its appearance in Harry Craddock's Savoy Cocktail Book of 1930. It's believed to take its name from the 1922 silent film "Blood and Sand" starring Rudolph Valentino, perhaps created for the premiere.
1-½ oz. Scotch whisky
3/4 oz. orange juice
½ oz. Cherry Heering
½ oz. Carpano Antica sweet vermouth
Shake vigorously with ice, and strain.
