On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, experience S'more of Chef Justin Beckett.
During this sweet workshop, Chef Beckett, owner of Southern Rail and Beckett's Table, will demonstrate how to make a signature Beckett's Table treat - Chocolate-Dipped Bacon S'mores. Guests will learn how to make the ingredients, including marshmallows and peanut butter mousse, along with a creative and whimsical way to serve s'mores on a stick that is perfect for entertaining. Attendees will also learn the inspiration behind this best-selling dessert.
"I grew up macrobiotic, holistic and obviously vegetarian, so bacon was the first meat that I actually tried and liked." explains Chef Beckett. "My grandparents used to take me camping and we would have s'mores around the campfire at the end of the day. I loved camping with them, but the s'mores were always a highlight because I wasn't allowed to eat sugar at home. When we opened Beckett's Table, a lot of our dishes came from history and our family, so I thought combining the bacon with the chocolate and the S'mores was a great idea and concept that came from a nice family story."
Be sure to make time to attend this seminar during your day at Devour. Guests will not only enjoy these decadent s'mores, but will go home with a printed recipe card. "I think this dish always surprises people," says Chef Beckett. "I also think it's interesting to see their reaction when they see how marshmallows are made. I feel like it's very easy to win peoples' hearts when you serve them dessert, especially if that dessert has peanut butter, chocolate and bacon."
